Obituary of Audrey Cassan

CASSAN- Audrey Margaret (Ainsworth) of Port Colborne, Ontario passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2017. Born in Toronto on April 6, 1926, she was the eldest daughter of Ethel (Hare) and Clifford Ainsworth. Audrey is survived by Steven and Michele Cassan, Marnie and Brian Lambie, Judy Cassan, MaryAnn Cassan, and Audrey’s baby sister Melba her husband John Blanchard. She also has 5 nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Cameron (1986), son Bradley (1993), son Greg (2015), her brother Ross (1993) and his wife Dorie (1994). Childhood sweethearts, Audrey and Cameron were married in 1948 and moved to Port Colborne soon after to begin their family life together. Her family was her life. Every day of every week she focused on what was best for all of us, both collectively and individually. She shared her wisdom, strength and unconditional love each day of her life. She wanted to spend as much time as possible with us all, in any form she could. If not with a conversation she would take to one of her personal hand written notes. With technology becoming another avenue to communicate, at 80 years young Mom headed to computer class to learn the internet and Facebook world. This opened her window of communication further, and allowed her continual contact with her widespread family, extended family and friends. Mom kept busy within her community by volunteering her time on committees or holding executive positions on the PTA, Curling Club, Roselawn, the Art Committee, Port Cares and Chiropractic Ladies for Life. She and dad were honoured to serve as curators for the BJ Palmer Chiropractic Museum in Sarasota Florida. Mom appreciated her dear friends in her life and enjoyed their company with a coffee or lunch date, a chat on the phone, or driving them to and fro while visiting along the way. Family thanks the compassionate staff at Port Colborne General Hospital who helped mom on her “train ride” her last days. Mom would want to be remembered for her love of life, and we will remember mom for her kindness. As a gentle memory of her, do an act of kindness for someone in the coming days and remember Audrey with a smile. We miss you already Mom. Cremation has taken place. The Cassan family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence St. Port Colborne on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 11- 12 noon.
