Reta (Kay) Dawdy

DAWDY- Reta (Kay) Kathleen (nee Hall) Our beautiful Mom Kay passed away on February 1st, 2019 at the Meadows of Dorchester, Niagara Falls in her 96th year. Kay was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of nearly 60 years, Stan (2003) and precious daughter Cindy (1976).  Kay was intelligent, witty, full of life, had a great sense of humour, loved people and was loved by those who knew her. Many of her friends were half her age and lovingly referred to her as their “udder mudderʼ. Kay enjoyed bus trips and winter visits with her sister Connie in Florida. Kay was an original! She was artistic, fearless, a super saleswomen (Avon, the Stand, etc), and a terrific Mom. Had she been born fifty years later, with her entrepreneurial skills sheʼd be a force to be reckoned with! She leaves behind her favorite sister Connie Harford, and brothers Ron and Cecil Hall. She will be sadly missed by her children Carol Wright, Lloyd Dawdy (Nancy), Dreana (Gary Butler), Darlene Rusnak (Colin Moss), grandchildren Chris Wright (Sue), Kim Wright-Whiting (Gary Whiting), Blake Rusnak (Caitlyn), Tracy Kahlen (Mark), and Amy Seagram and her son Mac. She adored her great grandchildren Dakota, Caleb, Isla and Carter whose visits brought her great joy. Kay and Stanʼs restaurant and variety store in Long Beach was the gathering place for family good times. Her many nieces, nephews and friends fondest memories are of visiting them at the Beach and the fun that ensued. Kay was also predeceased by her grandson David, sons-in-law John Rusnak, and Jerry Wright, her parents Anna and Benjamin Hall, brothers Gordon, Ray, Les, Gerald, Mervin, and Wilbur, sisters Teddy Rogers and Lorraine Shaver. Kayʼs family is forever grateful for the excellent care and friendship she received from the staff and volunteers at the Meadows of Dorchester, who loved her as family. Visitation will be held at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday February 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Davidson Chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.  Donations in her honour can be made to the Meadows of Dorchester, Port Colborne BIC Church, or to a charity of your choice.
