Cecile (Deblois) Houde Jacques

JACQUES- Cecile (Deblois) Houde Jacques of Welland ON passed away at the Port Colborne Hospital on February 9, 2019 in her 98th year, 4 weeks shy of her birthday, surrounded by her family. She is survived by 5 daughters and 1 son; Louise(Joe) Bilodeau, Diane(Pat) Sutch, Francine(Gibby) Corriveau, Rachel(Shorty) Chevrette, Yvon(Denise) Houde, Jacqueline (Paul) Kirchmayer, 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren, siblings Gabrielle (late Henri) Leroux, Bertrand (Florence) Deblois, Monique (Fernand) Gauthier, Marie-Paule (Gilles) Deblois, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Loving companion of Joe Vallieres and special friend to Teresa and Cliff McAllister. Predeceased by her 1st husband Sigefrid (Fred) Houde (1982), her 2nd husband Victor Jacques (1995), her daughter Nicole Poirier (2004), her grandson Claude Cousineau (1969), her son-in-law Nick Cook (1970), her parents Alphonse and Alice Deblois and her siblings Angeline, Gisele, Jean Maurice, Camile and Omer.  Born and raised in Ascot Corners, QC, Cecile married Sigefrid (Fred) in 1942. In 1948, she then moved to Port Colborne by train with Fred and her 5 daughters, later having 2 more children. In 2004 she took an apartment in Residence Richelieu in Welland. She led a busy, full life with family and friends but still found time for her favourite game of cards.  Cecile was a life member of Le Centre des Ainés Francophones de Port Colborne. Cecile’s family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Vigil prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf Catholic Church, 300 Killaly Street, East at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made to McMaster Children’s Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.  Online guest register and condolences are available at www.davidsonfuneralhome.com
