Obituary of George Stanley Shisler

SHISLER, George Stanley passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie on May 31, 2019, just two days shy of his 88th birthday. Loving husband of June (Wintemute) for 66 years. Cherished father of Terry and his wife Sherry Shisler, Ken and his wife Joanne Shisler, Sandy Shisler and Brian Deanes.  Devoted papa of Lindsay (Paul) Earl, Terilee (Tyler)  Pitman, Michael (Ashley) Shisler, Steven (Erin) Shisler, and Jennifer Lamb (Andrew Cebulak). Proud great papa of Everett Earl, Conrad Shisler and Ivy Shisler. Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Mable Shisler, brothers Harold (Meta) Shisler and Kenneth (Nancy) Shisler. George was born and raised in Sherkston where he lived all of his life. He was a custom woodworker by trade and owned and operated Shisler Bros. Sash & Frame.  He enjoyed boating and took pride in milling all the woodwork for his three children’s homes. He also assisted his two sons in the topsoil business for many years. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Scher and the caring staff at the Douglas Memorial Hospital. The Shisler family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in the Davidson Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Lofthouse officiating.  Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Sherkston.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
